Welcome to my author platform. It is still a work in progress but hopefully soon I will be able to get it all together.
If you’ll notice in the sidebar there are several covers of magazies – these are my stories featured on the front pages of all three magazines (my published clips): PRIMARY TREASURE, OUR LITTLE FRIEND and GUIDE (PACIFC PRESS). I have countless other stories published but these ones made front page. These are just few of my published stories in PACIFIC PRESS publications: AVA’S HAUNTED HOUSE, BELLA’S NEW HOME, THAT IS A BIG BOOK, MOMMY, BREAKING CAMP RULES, EMILY’S FIRST DAY, FUNDRAISER FOR NOAH, GRAFFITI SUSPECTS, HOLEY SHOES & TORNADO BLUES, ISABELLA’S NEW FRIEND, MARCUS SAVES THE TURTLES, WELCOME TO NO WI-FI LAND, MY GRANDPA IS A PASTOR, QUEEN’S LOST PUPPY, RESCUED FROM HURRICANE IKE, WHERE ARE YOU, SHORTY?, TURTLE CREEK INCIDENT, THE BROKEN PROMISE, & FIGHT IN THE PARK.
In addition to these stories, I have included the book cover of my book of poetry entitiled BITTERSWEET MORSELS as well as a Sunday School lesson I put together and wrote back in the early 90’s for WORD AFLAME Publishing about John the Baptist.
Every day, when I start working on my blog site, or platform (whatever it it is), it makes me feel as if I’m tooting my horn and saying to the world “TOOT! TOOT! Look at me! I am a published writer!”
In a way, that is what I am doing but in reality, it is giving editors and publishers a first hand look at some of my work under one roof, and a chance to enhance my marketing skills and promoting my work in addition to writing it. Marketing my books (once they are published) and my published stories is at the top of my priority list right along with writing. Writing has to take first place or else thee would be no need for marketing. We have to have something to put out there so writing has to be number one – and it as to be our best.
For years, marketing was not one of my specialties and I didn’t think it necessary since I was already doing the work (writing), but that’s not the case. From what I have learned thus far, marketing is as important as being able to write. Editors and publishers are looking in to see just how much marketing skills we writers actually have when they chose to publish our work (in the book publishing industry.) I want to increase my chances of having my books published just like everyone else. Writing is only the first part of the job – promtoting and selling my books is the second part.
Now – back to my author platform/blog site – I am in the process of providing links to some of my other published writing that has been published in places such as AUTHORSHIP (NATIONAL WRITERS ASS.), FIRST WRITER, & ADELAIDE, to name a few. In addition to writing for children, some of my specialties include travel writing, esaays, articles on writing, news writing and poetry. I want to make this platform work for me, one that will appeal to many different editors and publishers that I submit my work to. They need to see that I am serious about writing and promotion among other things.
I will continue updating my platform blog and will be adding articles on writing as I go along. Sit back and enjoy the reads!
Yours Truly,
Marcella S. Meeks
